Frederick Douglass-Issac Mayers Maritime Park

Highlights the lives of Frederick Douglass who grew up in Baltimore and lived in Fell's Point; Isaac Myers who founded the first African-American owned and operated shipyard in the United States and the development of Baltimore's African American community 200 years ago.

About Us:

The Park and Museum are part of the Living Classrooms Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes hands on education; job training skills and cultural preservation. The facility, which emphasizes "learning by doing," opened in June 2006.

Tours:

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 AM to 5PM. Guided tours are available and the cost for them is included in the fee for general admission. School tours are designed to meet State of Maryland Curriculum Standards of learning in math, science, the language arts, social studies and history. Group tours are available upon pre-arranged request. To arrange for school group tours contact Maryliz Hewes at 410-685-0295 ext 251.

The museum and park grounds are wheelchair accessible.

Parking:

There is limited parking available on weekends in the lot adjacent to the museum. There is amble on the street parking available at other times. Commercial parking lots are near-by.

Admission prices:

$5.00 for adults
$4.50 for seniors 65 and older
$4.00 for children 6 to 18.
Children under 6 are free.
