The Historical Society of Baltimore County9811 Van Buren Lane About UsEstablished in 1959, HSBC is an organization devoted to teaching and interpreting the history of a county covering 700 square miles and over 350 years in the making. The Society pursues its educational mission through publications, lectures, conferences, school programs, and exhibits. These are posted on our website, www.HSoBC.org In the Library, our archives range from the founding of our county in 1659 all the way to today. While focused on Baltimore County, the archives contain information linking the County’s history with the surrounding jurisdictions and the State of Maryland. The Library contains over 1,700 volumes, 265 rolls of microfilm, more than 150 historic maps and atlases, and more than 1,000 historical photographs. In addition, the thousands of files in our archival collections contain printed genealogies, newspapers, manuscripts, maps, and shipping lists, and also include court, marriage, probate, deed, school, and tax records.
