About us:

The Maryland Women's Heritage Center is an outgrowth from the Maryland Women's Heritage trail, the Maryland State Department of Education, the Maryland Commission for Women and Friends of the Maryland Commission for Women. The Heritage Center is scheduled to open sometime in 2006 in the historic Furness Building (19-21 South Street in Baltimore, approximately two blocks from the Inner Harbor). The Maryland Women's Heritage Center, as an institution of learning, is dedicated to the diverse women of Maryland, whose courage, strength, creativity, compassion, leadership, vision and persistence is the legacy that has enriched the lives of their families, communities and Maryland institutions. The Center will celebrate, through exhibits and hands-on programming, the contributions of women and the men who value the learning and understanding of women. The Center will also host forums on a variety of issues, problems and solutions that affect women yesterday, today and offer solutions for the future.
