About Us
Formed in 1982 to preserve the history, heritage, and memory of Maryland’s organized militia, the Society was the driving force behind the establishment of what is now the Maryland Museum of Military History. While the militia remains a prime focus of the Society, it seeks to preserve the memory of the military accomplishments of all Marylanders, regardless of branch of service.
Tours
The Museum is generally open Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM and closed on weekends and holidays unless prior arrangements have been made. Please call 410-576-1496 well ahead of your planned visit to ensure that the Museum is open for ANY visit, even during normal weekday business hours. If you wish to arrange a Museum tour on a weekend or holiday, please call 410-576-1496 as far ahead of time as possible. We will do everything we can to arrange staffing so that the Museum will be open for your visit.
Due to security restrictions, all adults must bring photo identification.

Accessibility
The Maryland Museum of Military History is committed to making its collection, buildings, programs, and services accessible to all audiences. The museum is located on the first level of the 5th Regiment Armory and is wheelchair accessible. Handicap parking spaces are available near the entrance to the museum. Exhibits often have video and audible capabilities for assisted viewing and listening of the exhibit. Special arrangements can be made by contacting the museum.
Parking
There is a parking lot located next to the 5th Regiment Armory between Bolton St and Dolphin St. You will need to show an ID card to park in the lot. On street parking is also available on Bolton, Dolphin, and 29th Division Streets near the museum.
